Nathan Young is a young offender sentenced to community service. After a freak storm strikes them with lightning, Nathan's fellow probationers are given special powers. Nathan, much to his disdain, is seemingly left uneffected. It is not until the end of the first series that Nathan realizes his power - immortality. Too bad he's already been buried alive.
You ain't born typical[]
What was that about my mum?!
Nathan was put on probation after he destroys most of a bowling alley and staples the hand of the manager. He is convicted of theft and common assault and sentenced to community service. He's a smartass with no redeeming qualities. Nothing bothers him - nothing hurts him. He thinks that community service is a joke and makes it his goal to aggravate everyone. His horrible attitude hides a young man who is lonely - painfully so.
Living in a suitcase[]
So we kinda killed our probation worker
Nathan is thrown out by his mother because of his repeated attempts and successes at ruining her personal life. It is then that Nathan realizes that he has no real friends. No one will help him or let him stay with them. He comes to live in the community center and steals from the concession stand for food.
Meet a clown, fall in love[]
Nathan's whole life changes forever during a freak storm and he and the rest of the probation group are struck by lightning. Their probation officer goes into a zombie-like state and sets out to kill all of his young charges. He manages to kill one before he is killed by Kelly - the abrasive female probationer that Nathan eventually grows to care about. Kelly is able to read minds and so she already knows how Nathan feels - that he wants to shag her - much to Nathan's horror as he repeatedly makes the mistake of thinking about shagging her and realizes too late that she has heard his thoughts. Thankfully, Kelly returns his feelings - those that are a little deeper and go beyond a good shag (even if he doesn't realize they are there yet) - and she takes his unclean thoughts in stride and the occasional punch.
Went down to have you over[]
In the series one finale the group of Misfits find out that some of those given power by the storm are not using them for good or not using them at all. One woman is using it to control the minds of teens and bring them into a cult. In an effort to save everyone - driven by his need to save Kelly - Nathan takes on the group's leader and is killed in the process. However, his mission is accomplished as the group leader dies with him and those who were brainwashed are returned to normal. Everyone believes Nathan to be dead - everyone except Nathan who wakes up after his funeral, in a coffin, six feet underground.
